The original concept for the Shark Reef was to develop the largest salt water aquarium in the world. This facility was designed to complement the Mandalay Bay Resort as an attraction featuring these great predators of the oceans. Guests could take scuba diving lessons, swim with the fish and participate in feeding the sharks. The idea was to provide a unique experience for guests that would be digitally recorded as a truly memorable visit to Las Vegas.
